The Big Garden

Pat and I have spent quite a few days working on the big garden. This garden is up by her house and we all take what we want from it.  She put a lot of work into weeding and tilling, making sure the dirt was just right.  This is her meditation time after she has spent the morning watching all of our kids and trying to maintain her sanity.

We have two long above-ground boxes that we planted in.  Everything you can think of-tomatoes, squash, lettuce, spinach, onions, green beans, pot, carrots, radishes,  peas...............on and on.

Andie and Tyson doing their own thing while we worked.  You can see Big Rick and Pat's house in the background.  According to Tyson that is "Grandma's house".  It does not belong to Big Rick at all.

Ava got some time in the dirt as well.

Here is my mother-in-law sitting down on the job, drinking her beer and yelling at me, "GO FASTER!  WORK HARDER!  THIS AIN'T NO FREE RIDE SISTER!"  You can see Tyson is astonished to see this side of her.

Cousins!  This is everyone except Bridger.  The McKeever clan that will take over the little one-room school house some day. Lane attends school in another town, but will be part of the clan on holidays and summers still!

The garden has a nice big fence around it to keep the deer out.  The gate is shut tight every night with a hoof-proof latch.  Those deer can be tricky!
Tyson admiring the finished product.

Some fancy trellis work done by my husband and his brother.

PS-I was kidding about Pat's yelling and hoof-proof latches.  That's just silly.

  1. Does growing pot=potatoes? Or are you starting a new business venture? :)

  4. Yay! I cant wait to see the garden. I love big gardens. My grandpa used to have one of the most impressive gardens I've ever seen. The kids are getting so big and are absolutely darling! Sounds like you all are doing well. Miss you!!!!!!

  5. Have you been to Grandma Norma's to see the vast amount of land that she used as her garden....now that is a BIG garden :-) Yours is still definitely better than my little garden. I aspire to have a large garden one day.

  6. you can't say pot and think it just blended into the rest of the veggies. I know it wasn't a slip-up. Pat is yelling at you because you are messing up the pot seed planting. screw-off.
