At Jim's Corner you will find the reporting station. To get the Northwest Angle, you must travel through Canada for some time. On the outer edge of Warroad there are border patrol offices for the US and Canada that you stop at. Heading toward the Angle, you will cross the Canada/US border once again but there are no people patrolling these areas. It's in the middle of the woods. So you must call in and report that you have entered the US again. Likewise if you are leaving the Angle, you must call Canada to report that you will be entering thier country. They just want to know your license plate number, who is with you and if you have illegal substances or $10,000 cash. I wish!
There is a phone on the outside of the building, and also one inside for the really cold temperatures.
We have a reporting station at Young's Bay as well. It's smaller than this one, about the size of a phone booth. Remember phone booths?
I have no idea who owns this little land or if it's called something. I just like how it looks.
Our humble abode. This is our home for a few years until we get established and can build something bigger. It is a nice size until it's 7 degrees (like right now) and I'm stuck inside with Tyson for the whole day. He is the king of redundancy these days, mixed with an abundance of energy. So basically what you get is a commentary on everything he is doing, played on repeat about 447 loops with a lisp and stutter to complete the package.
Rick got a chance to go ice fishing for his friend's birthday a couple weeks ago. This is a 6 pound Northern. His pants aren't unzipped. Those are his snowpants over some tan Carhart jeans. For those of you who don't know, Rick is an amazing cook and makes up his own recipes for everything. This little fish gave his life to make us the most yummy parmesan encrusted dish. God bless you little Northern, you did not die in vein. I have a license to go fishing too, but haven't made it out yet. Soon I'll get to stare in to that watery hole and wait for my 7 pound Northern.
Tell Rick I want his best Northern Pike recipes. We just got a trolling boat for our cabin in MI, so it is my goal to catch one this summer. Those things are feisty! Did you look at his (the fish's) choppers?
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear about your fishing! Become super good so you can teach me (I can't caste - it's a danger to those around me).
